AgrB Clostridioides difficile gene

AgrB protein is part of the quorum sensing system of Clostridioides difficile, specifically this transmembrane protein process and transform the AgrD peptide into an auto inducer protein that is the responsible for the QS activation in the pathogen.
The function and mechanism of this quorum sensing is not well described yet. Moreover, previous analysis of the pathogen genome shows that this sequence is homologous to the accessory gene regulatory (agr) operon, present in many Gram-positive bacteria, including S. aureus, bacteria which we based many of the functions of the proteins and let us hypothesize a way to treat the infection.
This accession refers to a de novo synthesis, a basic part of the composite part BBa_K2978100, which has been evaluated in response of the modification of the behavior of the pathogen.

Usage and Biology

This gene is not present in all strains of C. diff. Even though, mostly of strains known should be susceptible to the inducer, because they posses the receptors proteins that sense this AIP.
